About This Tour
This is our most popular tour — and for good reason. The Georgian Military Highway is one of the most spectacular roads in the world, climbing from Tbilisi through river valleys, past medieval fortresses, over high mountain passes, and deep into the heart of the Greater Caucasus. The destination is Kazbegi, where the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church sits at 2,170 meters with the snow-capped peak of Mount Kazbegi towering behind it. But trust me — the journey is just as incredible as the destination.
We'll start with Ananuri Fortress, a medieval castle complex perched above the turquoise waters of the Aragvi River. Then we climb to Gudauri — Georgia's premier mountain resort at 2,200 meters — where you can stop for paragliding in summer or skiing in winter. At Cross Pass (2,379m), we visit the Friendship Monument with its panoramic views over the Devil's Valley. Every turn in the road reveals another jaw-dropping vista.
Once we arrive in Stepantsminda, the real magic begins. We head up to Gergeti Trinity Church — whether you choose to hike (30-40 minutes) or ride in a 4x4, the reward is the same: one of the most iconic views in all of Georgia. After lunch with mountain views and a visit to Love Lake (seasonal), we wind our way back along the highway, watching the landscape transform as the light changes. This is a day you won't forget.
