About This Tour
Georgia is the birthplace of wine — and I mean that literally. For over 8,000 years, Georgians have been making wine, long before the rest of the world even knew what a grape was. When you visit Kakheti, you're not just going to a wine region — you're stepping into the very place where humanity's love affair with wine began. The ancient qvevri method, where wine ferments in large clay vessels buried underground, is still used by families here today. It's UNESCO-recognized, and once you taste it, you'll understand why.
Kakheti is Georgia's premier wine region, nestled in the stunning Alazani Valley with the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains as a backdrop. We'll visit local wineries where families have been perfecting their craft for generations. You'll taste wines made the traditional way — amber wines, rich reds, and crisp whites — and learn the stories behind every bottle. This isn't a corporate tasting room experience; this is real, authentic Georgian winemaking at its finest.
But Kakheti isn't just about wine. We'll also explore Signagi, the enchanting "City of Love" perched on a hilltop with panoramic valley views, and visit the Bodbe Monastery, where St. Nino — the woman who brought Christianity to Georgia — is buried. Between the tastings, the views, and the food, this is one of those days that reminds you why you travel in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a wine expert to enjoy this tour?
Not at all! This tour is perfect for everyone — from casual wine drinkers to serious enthusiasts. The winemakers love sharing their craft with all visitors, and I'll help translate and explain everything along the way.
How much does wine tasting cost?
Most winery tastings are free or very affordable (5-15 GEL). Some premium wineries may charge a small fee, which is not included in the tour price. You'll also have the chance to buy bottles directly from the producers at great prices.
Is vegetarian food available in Kakheti?
Absolutely! Georgian cuisine has many delicious vegetarian dishes — bean stews (lobio), walnut-stuffed eggplant (badrijani), cheese breads (khachapuri), and fresh salads are always available at every restaurant.
When is the best season to visit Kakheti?
September and October during the grape harvest (rtveli) are magical — you can even participate in the harvest at some wineries. But Kakheti is beautiful and worth visiting year-round. Spring and summer offer lush green vineyards and warm weather.
How many wineries do we visit?
We typically visit 2-3 wineries, including both family cellars and larger estates. I can adjust based on your preferences — some travelers prefer fewer stops with more time at each, while others want to sample as many as possible.
